Wales is very good ‘value for money’ for visiting golfers to the British Isles, it has excellent golf courses with reasonably priced green fees and accommodation. The coastal areas have many beaches and stretches of sand dunes and consequently most of the highly ranked courses are traditional links. In the north and west the countryside is lightly populated, the central area is mountainous and there is plenty to do for those interested in sightseeing. The South coast is very easy to access from London’s airports whereas you can start a tour in the north from Manchester airport or with a longer drive from London. The Welsh are fond of poetry, literature and talking. The country is rich in history with every major period leaving its mark, standing stones, Roman ruins and many castles.    This tour is all about playing seven courses generally considered to be the best in Wales. It starts on the North West coast based at Harlech for three 3 nights, close to the mountainous area of Snowdonia, North Wales. You travel south down the coast to play Aberdovey and then drive to the south coast and stay 2 nights in Tenby, an ancient and popular town. Play Tenby, the next morning and then drive to the capital city Cardiff for three nights. You play Royal Porthcawl, Southerndown chosen as a future Walker Cup venue and the 2010 Course at Celtic Manor, built specially for the 2010 Ryder Cup. A popular add-on is to spend some time in London. Golf at: Nefyn, Royal St David’s, Aberdovey, Tenby, Royal Porthcawl, Southerndown and Pennard.
    
2. South Wales (£999.00 per golfer)
   This tour is arranged so that you can play a selection of the best courses in South Wales from one base location. We have selected a hotel in the capital city Cardiff a good base for dining and entertainment. Three of the courses are on the coast to the west. The 2010 Course at Celtic Manor, built specially for the 2010 Ryder Cup is about 16 miles east of Cardiff. Monmouth Rolls is a short tour inland and you can take the opportunity to drive via Chepstow to Monmouth, one of the most scenic drives in South Wales through the lower reaches of the Wye Valley. A popular add-on is to spend some time in London.
    
3. 2010 Ryder Cup (£1483.00 self drive package, based on 4 people or £1775.00 with driver / guide based on 8 people)
   We can put together a package for the Ryder cup to suit your group. An example is given based upon 5 rounds of golf, seven nights accommodation, attendance at the final day of the Ryder Cup and a choice of self-drive or escorted transport. Golf at: Royal Porthcawl, Southerndown, Pyle and Kenfig, Pennard and Rolls of Monmouth.

Module 1 – “Play the Open Championship Courses”

In England there are four courses that are on the current British Open Championship rota. Three of them are on the North West coast, a stretch of sand dunes covering about 40 miles. They start just south of Liverpool, where you will find Royal Liverpool Golf Club. Southport is the middle location, a good base and home to Royal Birkdale. A short distance north is the third Open venue Royal Lytham. You therefore have the unique opportunity to play these three famous courses that have staged 30 Open Championships and four Ryder Cup tournaments. This coast has many other highly ranked courses that are mainly close to Southport so an alternative is to stay in Southport and play Royal Birkdale and some of the other courses, Hillside, Southport and Ainsdale or Formby.
